Trailer For King Of Thieves Starring Michael Caine

Alongside a rag-tag group of legends.

It looks like we’ll be getting another heist film pretty soon and it’s a lot different than expected. No, it does not feature an all female cast but instead, an all elderly men cast (mostly). Titled King of Thieves, the first trailer for the film looks like it’ll be a fun and witty heist following a couple of old-timers as they attempt to pull off a heist in London’s jewel district. Lead by the legendary Michael Caine alongside a cast featuring Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay, Ray Winstone and Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, this film is looking to be one hell of a ride.

The film is based off the true story (that gets thrown around a lot, I know) of the Hatton Garden heist that was carried out by senior citizens in 2015, all of whom had criminal records. the film is directed by James Marsh who directed the Oscar winning documentary Man on Wire and also the critically acclaimed Stephen hawking biopic Theory of Everything. With a cast like this and a talented director, this is shaping up to be a pretty cool flick to check out.

The trailer looks like it’ll be fun as s–t as we’ve seen before in many heist films as these old-timers provide some witty self-deprecating humor surrounding their age along with some pretty absurd banter. With a cast featuring the likes of Alfred, Dumbledore and Professor Slughorn, mainstream audiences would likely flock to see these guys back on the big screen if the premise doesn’t intrigue them enough.

We have seen plenty of great heist films with the likes of Ocean’s Eleven and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and perhaps this would even stand alongside those ranks. The mediocre Ocean’s Eight didn’t really serve up much for the heist sub-genre this year but hopefully King of Thieves will.
