Luke Cage Actor Express Support For James Gunn Amidst Firing

It looks like Disney may just be pressured to bring him back.

It looks like James Gunn is getting more support with other actors under the Marvel banner siding with the director amidst Disney firing him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn was fired from the film when a bunch of old tweets of his surfaced, tweets of which include jokes that were related to taboo topics such as rape and pedophilia. Much of the cast members of the Guardians have taken his side on the matter expressing support for the director via Twitter and more recently a signed statement from the major cast including Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. It seems like another Marvel actor is expressing support for Gunn but this time from television.

Mike Colter known for playing the man with indestructible skin, Luke Cage in the Netflix series… well, Luke Cage along with the other shows under the Marvel banner including Jessica Jones and The Defenders took to Twitter to express support for the Guardians of the Galaxy director.

With all these actors standing up to their Disney overlords, it does seem likely that they would reinstate him. Gunn is facing some detractors as well and granted his tweets were weird and quite distasteful so there’s a chance that some people might even skip out on Vol. 3 even if he is reinstated.

It’s clear that the cast of the Guardians have a lot of love for Gunn and there were just jokes despite them being in poor taste and unfunny. Plus, it happened a long time ago so maybe it is just best to leave the past in the past when it comes to things like this. It is understandable on Disney’s part cause there are a “family brand” but if they don’t reinstate him, who would helm the third Guardians film?
