Aubrey Plaza And Brian Tyree Henry To Reportedly Star In Child’s Play Reboot

Yep, Chucky is back with two familiar faces to terrorize apparently

Does anyone remember the fun loving classic Child’s Play? No one? That’s cause it wasn’t a fun loving classic but a messed up piece of horror centered around a doll possessed by the soul of an infamous serial killer. Yeah, Chucky freaked the s–t out of a lot of people spawning a franchise with some of them being good and some… not so much. There’s a reboot on the way for audiences since The Conjuring series made dolls freaky again and it looks like the film has found its leads.

Collider reports that MGM has FX stars Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry in negotiations as leads for the killer doll flick. Set to be directed by Lars Klevberg, director of the yet to be released Polaroid with a screenplay from Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2). It producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will produce the film with Aaron Schmidt serving as executive producer. Production for the film will begin soon in Vancouver.

These stars are pretty known in the circuit of film and television with Plaza playing roles in comedies such as Parks and Recreation and also FX’s Legion along with plenty of acclaimed roles in film like Ingrid Goes West and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Henry has also made a name for himself with FX’s Atlanta along with the recent White Boy Rick and the upcoming If Beale Street Could Talk by Moonlight director Barry Jenkins.

Yeah, these stars have plenty of experience under their belt to lead this horror film. The Child’s Play series has both horror and comedic elements to them and these guys are no stranger to comedy so this might be an indication of the direction they would be going with the reboot. There is also a television series centered around Chucky to be released soon so it looks like Chucky is really making a return here.
