Endgame Fan Theory Claims That There Are Two Versions Of Steve Rogers

Another day, another fan theory!

Each passing day brings us closer to the Avengers: Endgame premiere, and we get to see more fan theories attempting to guess the Endgame plot based on everything that has happened so far in the MCU, as well as the various clues that Marvel laid out in Infinity War. We do know by now that Avengers: Endgame is the last installment of the Avengers franchise and thus fans have been preparing themselves for unexpected twists in the film. The latest theory suggests that in the Endgame trailer, there’s not one, but two Steve Rogers.

The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame has been broken down and dissected in an array of different ways, but one eagle-eyed fan may have found a new way to look at the footage.

Reddit user ak2sup recently suggested one possibility, which is that there are actually two versions of Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) hidden within the Endgame trailer. According to their theory, Captain America from the first Avengers movie is showcased partway through the trailer, in the scene where Steve can be shown crying.

Compare these two Steve Rogers from the Endgame trailer. That doesn’t look like quite the same bloke does it?

The hair and costume look like a decent match – though that’s being forensically dissected by Reddit’s finest as we speak – and some leaked set photos do suggest that 2012-era Cap is going to be in Endgame, possibly in a rerun of the battle in New York which destroyed half the city. Meanwhile, the other Steve Rogers is the one who’s lived through the various deaths and battles of the Avengers timeline as we’ve seen it so far.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

Fans will get to see if the heroes can tip the scales back in their favor when Avengers: Endgame premieres in theaters on April 26th.
