Sony is definitely moving forward with their own Marvel universe with Morbius, The Living Vampire starring Jared Leto. After last year’s Venom became such a big hit, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to find out that Sony has plenty of other ideas in store. Leto will take on the Marvel anti-hero Dr. Michael Morbius who becomes a… well, vampire after trying to cure a rare blood disease. We’ve seen some interesting casting news for the film of late but this latest one is sure to DRIVE people to the theaters… You’ll get that in a while.

Morbius is already joined by Adria Arjona from Emerald City, Matt Smith from Doctor Who and Jared Harris from The Crown. Now, we got another big name on board with the likes of Tyrese Gibson from the Fast and Furious series.

This report comes from Variety but not much was revealed about his character in the film. THR then came in and provided us more info on Gibson’s role in the film reporting that he will be playing an FBI agent looking to hunt down Morbius. THR also confirmed Arjona’s role in the film as Leto’s love interest along with Harris’ and Smith’s roles respectively with the former playing his mentor and the latter, his best friend turned villain Loxias Crown.

MorbiusI don’t know how Gibson is gonna play the character here cause it seems like he’s gonna have to don a far more serious demeanor for this film. The again, I don’t really know how director Daniel Espinosa (Life) is going to approach this film. Whatever it is, hopefully Sony will give us the Marvel anti-hero we deserve instead of churning out another case of ‘so bad, it’s good’.
