Emmy Nominations 2020: Watchmen and The Mandalorian Receive Plenty of Love

The Emmy Awards have gotten more and more exciting in recent years. After all, we are in the best era of television, where small screen series aren’t seen as a less artistic and less important alternative to films that are released in theatres. The 2020 Emmy nominations are out and there’s loads to talk about.

First of all, a comic book adaptation totally dominated the proceedings. Damon Lindelof’s absolutely brilliant TV series, Watchmen, raked in 26 nominations, which includes ‘Best Limited Series’ and multiple acting and directing nods. With major Oscar nominations given to Black Panther and Joker and now Watchmen dominating the Emmys, it looks like people are finally taking comic book adaptations seriously. Speaking of dominating, Watchmen receiving this number of nods also means once again, HBO has proven itself to be the Network to subscribe to for the most pristine television shows.

The biggest surprise of this year’s Emmys is just how much love The Mandalorian received, deservedly so, if you ask me. While most of the nominations have come in the technical categories, the series did also receive a nod in the most prestigious category, Best Drama Series, beating our one of the favourites, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show.
