13 Reasons Why Season 2 Release Date Announced

It’s to die-for! Okay, that was cheesy.

One of the biggest hit phenomena of 2017, 13 Reasons Why announces the release date for the second season in a haunting teaser trailer. The controversial Netflix drama surrounding suicide was one of the most heavily discussed shows in 2017. Some have praised the show’s depiction on youth problems, whereas some have accused it of glamorizing suicide.

Nonetheless, fans of the series have something to look for soon and the show looks to be expanding on the events that occurred in the first season and will be adding a little twist to the mix. The first season relied on the use of a set of cassette tapes to drive the narrative along as Hannah explains the ’13 reasons’ that led to her suicide. It looks like season 2 will rely on another vintage form of technology with the use of polaroids, likely to uncover the mysteries and secrets of these characters.

The teaser hints at the themes and troubles surrounding the characters of the show during the first season. Several characters were present in the teaser including Tony Padilla, Clay Jensen, Jessica Davis and protagonist, Clay Jensen. These characters were seen engaging in parties and basic activities followed by the polaroids providing a juxtaposition, revealing a darker thread.

The show may have its fans that defend the show’s quality and depiction of its heavy subject matter but some have criticized the show, not for its mere subject matter but on its execution through some weak characters and plot. However, the show will likely get more eyes on them this time around and we’ll see what the public thinks of its return once.

13 Reasons Why will drop on Netflix on the 18th of May.
