DC’s Shazam! Is On The Right Track As Star Asher Angel Wraps Up Filming

Keep it going DC!

Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe seems to be on the right track as production for their upcoming release, Shazam! is going smoothly. Asher Angel who plays teenage Billy Batson (Shazam) has wrapped up filming his scenes along with several other young cast members on set.

The character of Shazam! is an unconventional one to say the least as it revolves around the premise of a teenage boy with the ability to transform into a fully grown adult with superhuman abilities upon uttering the magic word “Shazam”. This premise may seem ludicrous to some but this would allow DC to take a more comedic route for the film. Angel would star alongside Zachary Levi who plays the adult Shazam but is unclear how far production has gone for his part.

Angel took to Twitter to express his gratitude for his involvement in the film, featuring a photo of himself alongside Levi:

The DCEU seems to be heading onto a steady path especially with their recent troubles during production with Justice League. It’s refreshing to see it going smoothly for a change as most productions that riddle themselves with problems tend to offer a negative outcome (such as the Justice League).

The film is directed by David F. Sandberg who earned critical acclaim for his work in Lights Out. It’s a wonder how he will take on a larger budget this time around but horror filmmakers have proved themselves as good big-budget filmmakers with the prime example of James Wan taking on the Fast and Furious franchise after his stint with the Saw franchise and The Conjuring.

With Aquaman set to be released later this year and Shazam! looking to have a mid-2019 release, we can expect an interesting line-up of films from the DCEU.
