New Lord Of The Rings TV Series To Focus On Young Aragorn

Return of the Teen.

Rumours have been circulating about Amazon’s new Lord of the Rings series to feature a younger version of Ranger-turned king Aragorn. With the massive disappointment that was The Hobbit trilogy, Tolkien-ites have been clamouring for a good prequel to beloved Lord of The Rings.

This based on a tweet released by Middle Earth fan website TheOneRing.net:

Neither Amazon or the studio involved in the series have released an official statement on this being true. The fan site has had a record of accurate reportage in the past when it comes to LOTR news so as of now, many are giving them the benefit of the doubt.

This could be an interesting angle to take, seeing that the character of Aragorn has a rich and interesting history in the books. The ranger was adopted raised by the wise elf Elrond (played by Hugo Weaving in the films) after his father Arathorn II died in battle. During his younger days, Sauron was still searching out the heir of Isildur, the one that could unite the realms of Men against the Dark Lord. If done right, a young Aragorn story-line could resonate with fans and flesh out the character’s origins better than the films. If not, it could be a horrid medieval teen melodrama.

The Lord of The Rings is regarded as one of the best films of the generation, a slew of nominations at the Oscars and gained massive box-office returns. This will most likely be a success since Aragorn is one of the most iconic figures in fantasy and well, it’s Middle Earth.
