How Ryan Reynolds Managed To Rope In A Cameo For Deadpool 2

This was a shocker!

*The following contains spoilers for Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 was one hell of a fun ride just like the original. There’s the violence, there’s the humour but what really stands out is the ability of the film to not give a shit. From fourth wall breaks to absurd cameos, the film bolsterS some of the most absurd moments that no other comic book film would dream of doing.

This silliness goes beyond just a Stan Lee cameo as the film fills itself with Hollywood Stars just for s–ts and giggles and it works. With the inclusion of football player David Beckham and also Celine Dion’s music video, Deadpool 2 went beyond that with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo featuring Brad Pitt.

The decision to add Vanisher was last minute and the A-list sequence was the last thing filmed. Rhett Reese spoke to Screen Rant and Pitt’s cameo and how it came to be:

“It was the very last thing we shot on the Deadpool movie was Brad Pitt came to set. He agreed to play Vanisher in return for scale, which is a very, very low number, a low, low salary and a cup of coffee from Starbucks delivered to him by Ryan Reynolds. So Ryan had to hand over that coffee to Brad in order for him to do the part. He came in, he was willing to do it because his kids love Deadpool and he’s a great guy. And uh, Ryan just asked him and he said yes, and next thing you know, boom, he’s standing there, and we had, we had a ton of fun.”

One thing we can take from this is Reynolds’ dedication to the film doing more than he’s required for it. Aside from starring and writing, Reynolds is a huge part of the promotional and marketing process for the film. One thing is for certain, if directors are looking for an actor that would not only sell their film but has the ability to rope other A-list celebs on board, Ryan is the man.
