Carrie Fisher Regrets Revealing Harrison Ford Affair In Memoir According To Her Brother

In his own book.

The late Carrie Fisher is undoubtedly an icon in pop culture. Her role as Princess Leia alongside Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo in what could be considered, one of the greatest films of all time is indelible. A month before her untimely death on the 27th of December 2016, Fisher released a memoir, The Princess Diarists based on diaries she kept from her time filming Star Wars. The memoir details Fisher’s affair with co-star Harrison Ford during the time in which he was married with two children. Fisher’s brother Todd has recently revealed that the story shared by Fisher was something she regretted.

In his own book, titled My Girls: A Lifetime with Carrie and Debbie, Todd provides an account of their mother Debbie Reynolds unaware of the relationship between Fisher and Ford until it was included in the book. Reynolds didn’t want her to publish it, which Carrie obviously did. According to Todd, Fisher agreed with Reynolds after it was all said and done. He wrote:

“What Harrison and everyone else may not know is that Carrie went to mom right after the book became such a big deal and said, ‘You were right, I shouldn’t have told that story.’ For what it’s worth, Harrison, she really did regret telling the story of that affair,”

Ford was relatively quiet about it but a year after the release of the book, he broke his silence in an interview with GQ. He was still private on the matter which was not much of a surprise. The revelation was a shock to fans. They had a 3 month affair in which Fisher was 19 and Ford was in his early 30s. Ford divorced his then wife in 1979 in which Fisher wrote that the divorce was “for reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with me”. Fisher unfortunately passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest at age 60.
