Captain Marvel: Brie Larson On Shaping Up For The Role

With Captain Marvel inching closer and closer, we can’t help but wonder how the film is shaping up. Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War that indicated Captain Marvel’s inclusion in Avengers 4, it’s a wonder how Brie Larson is shaping up to take on the role. Aside from a few set photos not much is known about how Larson is doing but it seems that she is definitely shaping up as the character has revealed a lot about her own strength according to Larson.

Speaking to Variety at the Crystal + Lucy Awards, Larson revealed how much she leaned about her own inward and outward strength, taking on the role as Captain Marvel. Larson spent months preparing and training for her role and results are showing. She said,“My highest right now is 215 lbs. in deadlifts. 400 lb. hip thrusts… being able to lift weight like that really changed my perspective and understanding of myself.”.

In regards to the project as a whole and actual production, which began in 2013 before her own involvement, she shared,”Going through a movie that requires so much and takes this long, I’m realizing I’m way stronger than I knew”. This is pretty understandable as her smaller roles in more dramatic films such as Room and Short Term 12 did not require her to pump up as much, if at all.

It seems that Captain Marvel is going to be a hard-hitting badass. It looks like this film is going to reach the heights of DC’s Wonder-Woman. Captain Marvel is set years after Wonder-Woman but if all goes well, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have an edge over the DC Extended Universe in a lot of aspects as they provide us with a great female led film. That is…if they don’t screw it up.
