Billy Dee Williams Is Back As Lando in Star Wars 9 According To New Rumor

This would be really cool.

Star Wars 9 will see Billy Dee Williams return as Lando Calrissian if rumours are to be believed. The 81-year-old legend hasn’t played Lando in almost 40 years, but now it looks like he’s confirmed for Star Wars: Episode IX. The new report comes from Fantha Tracks, who has had a pretty good track record lately and claims to have sources that indicate Billy Dee Williams is confirmed to return for Star Wars 9.

The source claims follow a report last month that Williams has been getting into shape and changed his diet. It was reported that Billy Dee Williams was training three days a week and that he had completely changed his diet. Many believed that he was preparing to join the cast of Star Wars 9 as Lando Calrissian because both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher went through similar changes before starting work on The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Lando Calrissian first appeared as the administrator of Cloud City, concerned primarily with keeping the Empire out of his affairs. Lando is strong-armed by Vader into betraying Han Solo and turning him over to Boba Fett. In the ensuing evacuation of Cloud City, he helps Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 escape and assists Leia in rescuing Luke Skywalker. Afterwards, he joins the Rebel Alliance and in Return of the Jedi, Lando goes undercover to help Luke rescue Han from crime lord Jabba the Hutt. Lando then takes the pilot chair in his old ship, the Millennium Falcon, and leads the attack on the second Death Star.

Lando Calrissian has been in the news a lot lately after Donald Glover portrayed the younger version of the character in the recently released Solo: A Star Wars Story. While the movie didn’t do as well as Lucasfilm and Disney had hoped, there are still talks of Glover taking on the role again in a standalone movie, but nothing has been announced at this point in time.
