Ant-Man 2: Quantum Realm May Have Changed Janet Van Dyne

The possibilities are endless.

Ant Man & The Wasp is inching closer and it looks like it’ll be tackling some pretty heavy stuff. Although hype for Avengers: Infinity War was no doubt much bigger, movie-goers would definitely be excited to catch the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War, The Wasp is looking to explore the Quantum Realm and rescue Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp. However, it looks like the Quantum Realm can change people as Janet may not be the same as when she went in having been stuck there for 30 years.

In the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym revealed to Hope Van Dyne that her mother entered the subatomic quantum realm during one of their missions years ago and it looks like the quantum realm can do a serious number on a person. Screen Rant spoke to executive producer Stephen Broussard during a set visit and was asked on how exactly was it like for Janet to be stuck there over the past few decades. Questions pertaining to her aging process, how she ate and how she managed to stay alive overall. Broussard said:

“We will definitely get into all those questions. That’s part of the questions that our heroes have. It’s such a — the mission, so to speak, is kind of this wing and a prayer, this mission of faith, that they’re hoping she’s down there kind of thing as they go on it. And they have those same questions. What has life been like for her, you know?”

A question asked pertained to her mental state, since she’s been alone for 30 years. To that Broussard simply replied,”Excellent questions” as he laughed.

In the comics, the Quantum Realm is known as the Microverse which consists of different dimensions all accessible through the same means in the MCU. It also features sentient beings, so there’s a possibility that a living society has bloomed there and Janet inhabits it. The possibilities are endless for Janet’s character who will be played by Michelle Pfeiffer, there’s even a chance of her becoming a villain. It’s fairly obvious that Broussard doesn’t wanna reveal too much in typical Marvel Studios fashion but it can be assumed that she may be a little cuckoo or perhaps even a leader of a society or group. A lot can happen in the Quantum Realm.
