Spider-Man: Far From Home Starts Filming In Two Weeks

The sequel is set to begin filming in two weeks, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

This past weekend, Avengers: Infinity War star Tom Holland let the cat out of the bag, the next Spider-Man movie will be titled Spider-Man: Far From Home, and it’ll build on the foundations laid by Homecoming when it arrives next summer. Holland took to Instagram this weekend to reveal the sequel’s official title. Details on the film remain few and far between, however, that won’t be the case for much longer, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed the production start date

In an interview with Collider during the junket for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Feige confirmed that Spider-Man: Far From Home will begin filming in two weeks time, marking an early July start date. Filming is expected to take place in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as other locations in Europe. That’s a little earlier than expected, particularly when you consider that Marvel Studios is yet to disclose any casting announcements aside from Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Keaton.

Jake Gyllenhaal is on board as the villainous Mysterio, with Michael Keaton returning as Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. the Vulture. Marisa Tomei will also reprise her role as Aunt May. Marvel has yet to reveal the film’s full cast, but fans should expect that to happen soon. Jon Watts is back in the director’s chair for the Spider-Man sequel, which is being penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, two of the writers behind the first movie.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has previously mentioned that the film would pick up a few minutes after the events of the yet-to-be-titled fourth Avengers movie. Look for Spider-Man: Far From Home to begin filming sometime next month ahead of its arrival in July of 2019.
