Ant-Man And The Wasp Director Maintains Interest In Fantastic Four

Maybe he’s the guy we need for this job.

Everyone remembers how horrible the Fantastic Four films were, all of them. Fox had numerous attempts to get it right, one way back in 2005, its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer and the recent Fant4stic which was abysmal by all counts. So, we’re yet to get a decent Fantastic Four film and Peyton Reed, director of Ant-Man and its sequel has a few things to say about it.

Speaking to Forbes, Reed was asked on other properties that peak his interest. He brings into discussion his earlier work in comedies such as Yes Man and Bring It On along with his development of a version of Fantastic Four way back in 2003. From there he was asked on whether that’s something he’d still be interested in taking on. Reed responded:

“I have been asked about that because of this pending potential merger of Disney and Fox and my previous involvement with Fantastic Four. I stand by the fact that the Fantastic Four, the comics, are the crown jewels kind of thing and that I think there is still an amazing, unbelievably great Fantastic Four movie to be made”

There is definitely no doubt about that as we Fox clearly has no idea what to do with the Fantastic Four, how could you possibly f–k it up three times? Anyway, Reed elaborates:

“That merger is not even a done deal but it’s absolutely something that would be interesting particularly now because I think it’s like an insane challenge at this point. Also, I think thematically the Ant-Man movies deal with a lot of the same things that Fantastic Four does.”

With the whole Disney-Fox deal that’s looking to be more likely and with Reed’s words, fans are definitely anticipating this potential merger. With the Fantastic Four on their side, the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be able to accomplish wonders and Reed is anticipating that. He says:

“It is exciting to me to see these characters and that sort of cross-pollination. It was exciting when they brokered the deal to have Spider-man come from Sony and be in Civil War and now be in the MCU. Whether it’s X-Men characters or Fantastic Four or whoever, I have to believe that Kevin Feige has at least some general idea in his mind about how that could work”

Reed is doing a pretty good job so far as Ant-Man and the recently released Ant-Man & The Wasp are both earning praise. Maybe when and if the merger is done, Reed may the man for the Fantastic Four job.
