James Gunn Has Debunked That Guardians Of The Galaxy Galactus Theory

Will anyone ever find the damn easter egg!?

James Gunn has been teasing Marvel fans for years with his claim that there’s one massive, incredibly well-hidden easter egg that’s never been found in Guardians of the Galaxy. Ever since director James Gunn confirmed that there was still one big Easter egg that fans hadn’t been able to find in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, devoted watchers have been searching every frame of the film in the hopes of finding what has now become the infamous Guardians Easter egg.

Many fans have had their own theories over the years, some sharing their findings online either on Twitter or with YouTube videos and, every time, James Gunn felt compelled to step out and say nope, sorry, try again. It was only a few days ago that a new Easter egg theory gained traction online, with a fan believing it had ties to Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds from Marvel’s comic books.

The theory posits that there is an Easter egg of the Devourer of Worlds in the Collector’s retelling of the creation of the Infinity Stones. Gunn officially confirmed this theory as untrue with the following, definitive words.

Therefore, it’s back to square one for the Guardians of the Galaxy Easter egg hunters. The hunt, as they say, will simply have to continue. There is no Galactus connection or hint in the Collector scene in Guardians of the Galaxy. As far as Easter egg hunts go, James Gunn sets the difficulty to hard mode. This reveal would certainly have been a major geek-out moment for fans, but at least now we know there’s nothing there.

James Gunn did mention on Twitter that the final Easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy has been partially solved, but the full truth remains hidden. If no one is able to crack it, it could be a while until James Gunn reveals the answer.
