Iron-Man 3 Director Jokingly Throws Shade At Thanos In Infinity War

Hopefully, this doesn’t cause a ruckus in the fanbase.

It’s pretty certain at this point that Avengers: Infinity War‘s Thanos is one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU wasn’t exactly known for their villains for some time, they were pretty bland to be honest aside from Loki but after Black Panther and Infinity War, things are starting to turn around. Both Killmonger and Thanos were great villains for our heroes and were one of the reason those respective films worked so well. The Russos captured one hell of a baddie with Thanos but it seems that Iron-Man 3 director, Shane Black isn’t very impressed with him.

According to Screen Rant, Black spoke at the Predator panel at San Diego Comic-Con and threw a little shade at the character’s seemingly inconsistent power levels but expressed great liking for the film while doing so. He said:

“One moment there’s a train coming at him, he can turn it into a flock of birds. The next minute Spider-Man is coming at him and he’s like, ‘Oh, my eyes! It’s got webbing!’ I loved the movie, it’s just, the kid had to do something, so…,”

This pertains to the times Spider-Man landed a few kicks on his face during the big action scene set on Titan. As for the flock of birds thing, he was probably referring to the battle between the Mad Titan and Doctor Strange as they deflected each other’s attacks using their respective magical abilities. There may be some valid claims to this but it’s a blockbuster for goodness sake. There are some interesting situations that may have hindered Thanos from engaging full on such as the Infinity Gauntlet being wrapped in Strange’s cloak of Levitation. Not to mention, Spidey probably managed to get those hits in because the Mad Titan was ambushed by a carefully thought out plan by our heroes.

Shane Black may have had a great run in the crime genre with films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys but his stint in the superhero genre hasn’t been all that great due to his efforts in Iron-Man 3 (That Mandarin twist was stupid). If he does think Thanos’ power levels may be inconsistent, he looks like he’s finding it more enjoyable if anything else. He did seem like he was just joking around and hopefully fans wouldn’t get worked up or anything since Thanos is getting a pretty big following even having a sub-reddit dedicated to him. But hey, still better than The Mandarin.
