20th Century Fox has plenty of plans for the X-Men series despite Disney’s looming acquisition of its properties in the future. Well, there are doing pretty well with the Deadpool films and with the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants films, there’s still plenty of stories to be told. One of them relating to the character of Kitty Pryde which we’ve seen before with plans of having her own film. This does sound pretty cool but fans may wonder if this would tie in greatly to the Deadpool series given Kitty’s relationship with Colossus along with whether or not the metallic mutant would appear in a film focused on Kitty.
Speaking with ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic-Con, actor Stefan Kapicic who plays Colossus in the Deadpool films expressed enthusiasm for the possibility of seeing Colossus and Kitty together on screen. He said:
“I would love, of course, Colossus to see Kitty Pryde in this version and of course I would love to see Colossus and Illyana, Magik, his sister, together in one of the future [movies],”
In regards to Magik who is Colossus’ sister, we will be seeing her in the upcoming New Mutants film as she will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Kapicic has expressed interest in that too but in regards to Kitty, he further expressed confidence in director Tim Miller who took on the first Deadpool. He said:
“We’ll see, that’s just a project that’s, as I know, it’s in development. I love [Deadpool director] Tim Miller and I love how this guy works, so whatever he touches it becomes really amazing… he’s working on Terminator right now, so I believe it’s going to be an amazing Terminator. Then again, I trust Tim. Whatever he decides to do regarding that with the X-Men franchise, I think that’s going to be a great success. And it depends on the storyline, but Kitty Pryde without Colossus… it’s tough. I think there’s a huge possibility you’re going to see Colossus and Kitty Pryde.”
This would be pretty damn cool to see but of course this is still uncertain, even the film itself. Maybe Kapicic will get a call to be in it but for now it seems like that hasn’t happened yet. Kitty Pryde is a great character and is iconic in the previous X-Men films, played by Ellen Page. They had a pretty tumultuous relationship in the comics so it would be better if they take their time with this relationship. It’s unsure how they will take this Kitty Pryde film but it will be cute to to see big Colossus and tiny Ellen Page in a relationship.
