Netflix Pokes Fun At Sony’s Venom In New Video

This video is hilarious.

The latest trailer for Venom has certainly brought fans plenty of creepy visuals and unsettling things, but one viral tweet is giving things a more lighthearted approach. Netflix posted a hilarious video on Twitter that light-heartedly pokes some fun at Sony’s upcoming anti-hero origin movie Venom.

The promotional material for Sony’s Venom has really been pushing the line “we are Venom,” proclaimed in multiple scenes throughout various trailers. It seems that Netflix took particular notice of the line. NX, Netflix’s Twitter account for various sci-fi and genre-related news, recently poked fun at one of the Venom trailer’s moments. After Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) dramatically proclaims that “We are Venom”, the video shows a fake version of the Farmers Insurance logo, complete with its insanely-catchy jingle.

For those who don’t recognize the jingle, it’s the theme music for Farmers Insurance. It’s one of those jingles that is so quick and catchy that it just gets stuck in your head all day after you hear it. What makes the video so great is that it isn’t just the clip with a logo posted over it. Netflix took the time to make a “we are Venom” banner to accompany the clip. The perfect cherry on top.

It’s also always fun to see companies playfully poke fun at each other like this. Hopefully, we can see Sony come back with some hilarious jab.

Venom is set to be released on October 5th.
