Pirates Of The Caribbean 6 Is In Development

But will there be some changes this time?.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is not really the best film series to come out of Disney. Based off the theme park ride of the same name the first Pirates, Curse of the Black Pearl was a great film, earning Johnny Depp an Academy Award nomination as well. The others well, not so much but it still had some fun moments in its own right. The last installment Dead Men Tell No Tales or Salazar’s Revenge or whatever you wanna call it was forgettable but it seems that the franchise isn’t done as Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is in development.

GWW reports that writers Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio and Jeff Nathanson are working on the script with Joachim Ronning set to return as director. Ronning who directed Dead Men Tell No Tales alongside Espen Sandberg is currently filming Maleficient II (I completely forget that film existed) so it’ll probably be a while till we see the next Pirates film.

Another thing to take into mind would be the presence of Johnny Depp as to whether he would be returning to the franchise especially following James Gunn’s firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Depp is a controversial figure due to his allegations of domestic abuse and violent conduct. There is a chance Depp might be dropped but with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald set to be released later this year, it’s a wonder how the public would see him on screen.

However, the Pirates franchise is still running but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they switched things up a bit. The franchise can go in multiple directions but if this one doesn’t really fare all too great, the franchise might just have to call it quits.
