RUMOR: Marvel Is Scrapping James Gunn’s Script For Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

Just a rumor, I repeat! just a rumor.

It’s starting to look like James Gunn will have nothing to do whatsoever with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn, who directed the previous Guardians of the Galaxy films was fired as director of the third film after old tweets of his surfaced that included jokes relating to taboo topics such as rape and pedophilia. Although many fans and actors have voiced out their support for the filmmaker including the cast of the Guardians themselves, it looks like Disney may just sever ties with the director as rumors have suggested that Gunn’s script for the film may not be used for the film.

Take into account that this is merely a rumor as Christopher Marc from Omega Underground has taken to Twitter to share it. Check out the tweet below:

He expands on this further in a full post on GWW reporting that Gunn has been scrubbed as director and writer for the film and that production for the film is now listed as TO BE ANNOUNCED. Marc does emphasize that this is just a rumor and that this has not been confirmed.

This might prove a problem for Disney if this is going to be the case as not only could this hurt the film but they may also lose one of its actors. Dave Bautista who plays Drax recently revealed that he would ask Disney to release him from his contract if Gunn’s script would be tossed out. It’s unclear if Disney would allow this but it’s pretty certain that this could prove troublesome in the future.

However Disney handles this, they better know what they’re doing if this all going to go well. It also looks like the film won’t be released anytime soon so that’s something fans are going to have to wait for. One thing seems likely, things might be a little awkward for the cast of the Guardians if this is the case.
