Topher Grace From Spider-Man 3 Thinks Tom Hardy Is The Right Guy For Venom

Tom Hardy is the right guy for any crazy role.

There may be new Spider-Man films and also a new Venom film to be released soon that may be all the rage these days, but it’s hard to forget Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. The first Spider-Man was a classic superhero film and Spider-Man 2 is a goddamn masterpiece but it’s a shame we didn’t get the all-rounded trilogy we were hoping for. Spider-Man 3 was the film to break the run as we all know, providing a disappointing last installment due to its overabundance in villains, underwhelming narrative and who could forget, Emo Parker.

As for the overabundance of villains, Venom in particular did not get the proper treatment he should have. The character was sidelined and only turned up near the end which was straight up wasted potential. One could blame the underwhelming Venom portrayal on actor Topher Grace but it’s not just that since well, he did fine with what was given to him. As we all know, Sony’s cracking another shot at the character with Tom Hardy and it seems like the old Venom, Topher Grace has a thing or two to say about that.

Speaking on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Grace expressed excitement for the Tom Hardy flick and it seems like he thinks Hardy is the right pick for the character. He said:

I was a huge fan of the character of Venom when I was a kid when Todd McFarlane brought him into the comic. I was a huge fan of it. And I was surprised and a little bit like ‘Huh?’ when they wanted me to play it. So when I look at it now, at the movie that’s coming out, I go ‘That’s the guy.’ In terms of how I think the guy should be played and who should play it.

It seems that Grace didn’t really think he was the right fit either but I’m not gonna hate on the man since like I said, he did fine. However, Grace seems to believe that Hardy is going to give one hell of a show and it’s quite telling. Even if the Venom film may not be all that, we can expect something great from Hardy like we always do.
