Scarlett Johansson Is Now Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actress

It doesn't look like she's going to be dethroned anytime soon.

Things are going very well for Black Widow as Scarlett Johansson is now the highest paid actress in Hollywood. Forbes reports that the Marvel star leads this year’s rankings with $40.5 million in pretax earnings between June 1, 2017 to June, 1 2018. This makes her Hollywood’s top earning female actress.

The previous holder was Emma Stone who was in some rather underwhelming superhero films but Stone herself has made a huge mark in Hollywood with leading roles and an Oscar under her belt. However, Johansson has proved strong and lucrative in the business and we can pretty much point to to one franchise that really helped with that.

Of course, her role as Black Widow in the Avengers films proved to be very helpful for her position as it quadrupled her 2017 earnings to bump Stone from the top spot. Other actresses among the top spots are Angeline Jolie who returns to the ranking thanks to her upfront pay for Maleficent 2 (I forgot about that one) with $28 million, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett and Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot.

It’s great to see Johansson doing so well as she has proved herself to be one hell of an actress in Hollywood. Aside from the MCU, she has also been a part of smaller films such as Her, Hail, Caesar and Isle of Dogs instead of just cashing in her check for Black Widow.

We’ll definitely be hearing more of Johansson in the future both in the MCU and out. With a Black Widow film planned, we may expect her earnings to sky-rocket beyond that which would probably make her top spot harder to beat. She may not get as much limelight as her male counterparts in the MCU, but that’s definitely changing.
