Star Wars Actor Oscar Isaac Has Some Advice For The Last Jedi’s Critics

You don’t need us to tell you that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a controversial movie.

Despite releasing to critical acclaim, Star Wars: The Last Jedi proved divisive among some of the franchise’s fans. At this point, those issues have been talked to death but that hasn’t stopped many fanboys continuing to attack the filmmaker and some even got together to try and raise money for a bizarre-sounding remake. Oscar Isaac, who stars as Poe Dameron in The Last Jedi, has now given some good advice to those who disliked the movie.

“What I think is really special about the whole thing — particularly for people that really didn’t agree with where the story went — is that it’s often a great inspiration to do your own stuff,” Isaac told Yahoo! Entertainment. “Obviously, making your own Star Wars movie is a bit of a tough challenge, but at least from a narrative standpoint maybe you make your own thing and then show what you would want. Make what you would want to see.”

Of course, channeling all those frustrations into a creative outlet might sound well and good, but Star Wars fans have to remember that this comment doesn’t necessarily mean that they can go ahead and take matters into their own hands by asking Disney to remake their films. Maybe instead they can write fan fiction, or they can write an original script of their own. There’s a whole lot of creative ways to help dissipate all of that negative energy.

Lucasfilm’s next Star Wars movie, Episode IX, is set for release on December 20, 2019.
