DC’s Swamp Thing Television Series Will Be Mature As Heck

This is going to be crazy.

DC’s upcoming television series is really looking for that mature audience with the likes of Titans and Swamp Thing. The trailer for Titans was so gritty and dark in the most comical sense but it seems that Swamp Thing will be taking a highly mature approach as well to really scare the s–t out of audiences. Slated to be a part of DC’s upcoming streaming service, DC Universe set to be launched on September 15, the series is set to premiere in 2019 and is aiming to be extreme!

In case some are unaware, Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson and follows scientist Alec Holland whose lab was sabotaged when he refused to sell his bio-restorative formula. His body becomes ravaged by burning chemicals and in attempt to survive, he dives into a nearby swamp. He becomes the Swamp Man, I mean Swamp Thing, emerging more plant than man.

In an interview with /Film, writer Gary Dauberman revealed that the series will not only be dark and scary but will take a lot of inspiration from Alan Moore’s run on the comic. He said:

“We always set out to make Swamp Thing as hard R as we could and go graphic with the violence, with the adult themes and make it as scary as possible. Because we’re doing it through the DC streaming service, they really pushed us, although they didn’t have to push hard, for us to go as extreme as we could. We really took our inspiration from the Alan Moore run in Swamp Thing, this landmark I think run. Fans of that series will know it gets pretty weird and extreme and scary. We really wanted to live up to that standard that Moore set up back in the ‘80s”

Hardcore!!! Well, Alan Moore’s work was pretty damn f–ked up and weird so this show is going to be pretty damn crazy. This doesn’t necessarily mean the series is going to be great just because it’s more mature but it would be something to pay attention to.
