Happy Death Day 2 Gets An Early 2019 Release Date

There’ll be something for everyone that week.

Blumhouse Productions’ slasher flick, Happy Death Day was a real success in the box-office raking in over a $122 million against a budget of a little less than $5 million. The film also did pretty well critically garnering a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes so it wouldn’t be a surprise if a sequel rolls around sometime just like many successful horror/slasher flicks in the past. It looks like a sequel is rolling around pretty soon as Happy Death Day 2 is going to get an early 2019 release along with a pretty funny title.

The original Happy Death Day released in 2017 follows a college student who is murdered on her birthday and begins to live her day over and over again (Wonder where we’ve seen that before…). She then attempts to find the killer and put a stop to her death cause well, who wants to relive their own death over and over again. Obviously, there’s the Groundhog Day premise but the film is a pretty cool slasher flick.

Deadline reports that Happy Death Day 2 or as it will be titled, Happy Death Day 2U (Yeah, I see what you did there) will be released on Valentine’s Day next year. That’s February 14, 2019 for us lonely folks and will see Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard back as Theresa “Tree” Gelbman and Carter Davis respectively. The film also sees the return of director Christopher B. Landon who took on the original film.

The film will see some competition though with the likes of X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Rebel Wilson’s romantic comedy, Isn’t It Romantic. Hell, it looks like there’s something for everyone, from comic book nerds, couples and even the f–ked up ones so yeah, gonna be a decent week at the movies.
