There’s a ton of anticipation for the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix as the film has a lot riding on its shoulder to really nail the Phoenix storyline in the comics. We saw a big screen crack at the storyline in X-Men: The Last Stand which was disappointing to say the least but there’s still hope with this one. Longtime producer Simon Kinberg helms the project in his directorial debut with stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain among others.
We will see a trailer dropped later on The Late Late Show with James Corden but we may be getting a glimpse of something to expect from the trailer teaser below:

This trailer teaser isn’t giving us much but it does indicate that there’s some serious stakes brewing. It looks like Jean Gray is going to be a significant presence in the film and the X-Men are going to have their hands full in this one. We’ll find out a little more once the trailer is out but it’s pretty cool that a lot has been kept under wraps for the film in Fox. Aside from re-shoots, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the film which was previously set to be released in November this year.
One thing that can be speculated is the possibility of Dark Phoenix being the last stand (Get it?) in regards to what we’ve grown to know about the X-Men franchise. There’s still going to be The New Mutants and X-Force along with more X-Men films (Probably) but with the whole Disney/Fox merger, things may change for the franchise. The X-Men may be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and whether you like it or not, things are pointing to that direction. Whatever the future may hold, Dark Phoenix better be good.
