Ryan Coogler Reportedly Returning To Write And Direct Black Panther 2

It only makes sense to have this man back at the helm.

Marvel’s Black Panther is possibly one of the most critically acclaimed comic book films of the century and perhaps of all time. Being the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have a black lead, the film was considered pretty integral in the MCU’s efforts to provide more diversity in their juggernaut film franchise. With the success of the first film, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if we see a Black Panther 2 sometime in the near future.

The first film which starred Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira and Daniel Kaluuya among others and was directed by Ryan Coogler who before that, directed the acclaimed Fruitvale Station along with Creed (Both of which starred Jordan). With this in mind, it would only make sense for Coogler to return but then again, he isn’t the one directing Creed II which will be released next month so who knows? He may not be a sequel kinda guy. However, it looks like he is…

THR reports that sources have told them that Coogler would be returning to direct the film’s sequel. The report does mention that this deal with Coogler is being quietly closed so maybe Marvel doesn’t wanna reveal all that much for now at least until Avengers 4 rolls out. Sources say that Coogler is set to write the script next year with an aim to start production in late 2019 or early 2020.

Nothing has been confirmed by Marvel so far cause well, things could change. We can only hope Coogler doesn’t have any old, offensive tweets that could get him into trouble or some other rap sheet. It would no doubt be the right thing to do to get Coogler back cause he hasn’t f–ked up yet. Let’s hope he keeps it going with this one and his next film, Wrong Answer which also stars Jordan (Man, these guys are tight).
