Director Of The Lion King Live-Action Remake Posts An Image Of The Cast At Work

With Favreau directing, this could work.

You know what they say, a remake a day, keeps the execs away from throwing a hissy fit (Or something like that). Disney’s been busy making half-a–ed remakes of their beloved animated classics for a couple years now and they’re not gonna stop. The only one that can be considered somewhat good would be Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book released in 2016 which saw some heart put into it. Favreau is attached to direct another live-action remake of a beloved classic, The Lion King with a damn good cast on board too.

Starring Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce Knowles as Nala, James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, John Kani as Rafiki, John Oliver as Zazu, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric Andre as Azizi and Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari. The last three are those hyenas in case you forgot or didn’t bother to care about their names. The cast does look good however and it looks like they’re ready to party in the studio.

Director Favreau posted an image on Twitter of himself together with Glover, Rogen and Eichner in a recording booth. It looks like they’re gonna record the “Hakuna Matata” scenes with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa (Probably). Check it out below:

I’m not big Lion King fan so I don’t really care about this remake but hell, it could be good with Favreau directing. The Jungle Book basically had its voice actors being themselves which was what made the remake stand out a little bit so maybe we can expect something similar to this. Maybe we’ll see Seth Rogen’s Pumbaa toking on that kush with Glover’s Simba… Probably not but I hope it’s somewhat implied.
