Avengers 4 Will Wrap Up A “Personal” Story Arc

The Russo Brothers discuss how Avengers 4 would wrap up a personal narrative.

Avengers: Infinity War is on the horizon in what could possibly be one of the biggest films of this generation, but there are already talks about the fourth Avengers film which is currently in its post-production stages. The Russo Brothers, Anthony, and Joe, have cemented their place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their directorial roles in the critically acclaimed Captain America: Winter Soldier, Civil War, the upcoming Infinity War and are looking to cap up the personal narrative arc established in the second Captain America film in the currently untitled Avengers 4.

In a recent press round for Infinity War in London, the Russos sat down with Spin 1038 to discuss their experience in the marvel films, saying:

“So the story that began in Winter Soldier and that ends in Avengers 4 is a, there’s a very personal arc there for us. I think you’ll understand our point of view as filmmakers and who we are as people when you watch all those movies together”

The political thriller approach to telling the Winter Soldier story was undoubtedly a bold risk taken by The Russo Brothers, which led Captain America: The Winter Soldier to be MCU’s most grounded film. It is also one of the most acclaimed films in the Marvel repertoire.

With the scarce information given, there is little to work with in regards to guessing the narrative and approach of the fourth film, but looking at their cryptic statement regarding “personal narrative”, it would be interesting to see what would be done to further explore the conflict between Stark and Rogers, especially in regards to Bucky.
