Avengers: Endgame Trailer Receives The Inevitable Logan Treatment

The Avengers: Endgame trailer done in the style of the Logan trailer paints an even more heartbreaking picture for our heroes.

Avengers: Infinity War got unusually heavy by Marvel Studios standards, so it came as little surprise to see the first trailer to the film’s highly anticipated sequel offer a similarly solemn tone. But if you think the Avengers: Endgame teaser could’ve stood to be just a little gloomier, YouTuber Mr. Krepshus has taken it upon himself to give the footage the Logan treatment.

The use of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” has practically become its own meme among superhero movie enthusiasts, with multiple fan trailers for Infinity War applying this exact song to the film’s grim events. Still, the mournful atmosphere of the Endgame preview seems especially well suited to Cash’s somber Nine Inch Nails cover, and just for further emphasis, the new video also includes a little footage from previous MCU flicks, including several victims of Thanos’ snap.

Tony Stark and Steve Rogers mostly take center stage in this trailer, likely due to the fact that they are arguably the most Wolverine-esque, what with Stark’s great many regrets and Rogers’ inordinately long life. The trailer also features flashbacks from other Marvel films, such as Steve and Bucky arriving in Siberia in Captain America: Civil War, Bucky’s demise at the hands of Thanos in Infinity War, Thor and Loki’s heartfelt elevator ride in Thor: Ragnarok and Clint Barton spending time with his family in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The video concludes with Natasha Romanoff assuring Rogers that their plan is “going to work,” and Rogers’ response of, “I know it is. Because I don’t know what I’m going to do if it doesn’t,” before fading out to a black background with a white title card that simply reads, “Endgame.”

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.

Avengers: Endgame will be released on April 26, 2019.
