Spider-Verse Producers Interested In Potential Spider-Ham Movie

Hopefully they don’t neglect Miles in the process.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is quite possibly the year’s best animated film and awards season is recognizing that. Perhaps even the best Spider-Man film since Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, it looks like there’s plenty of potential for sequels and spin-offs centered on the various Spidey characters. Aside from Miles Morales and Peter Parker, we saw a bunch of other Spider-people/things from different universes introduced. From Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Sp//dr and of course, Spider-Ham, the possibilities are endless.

The character of Spider-Ham or Peter Porker, a humorous cartoony (more cartoony at least) incarnation of Spidey was one of the highlights when bringing into question much of the humor of the animated film. With some plans to bring forth spin-offs and sequels, it looks like the ham themed Spidey is something the producers really want.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Into the Spider-Verse producers Amy Pascal and Avi Arad expressed great interest in making a Spider-Ham film when discussing potential spin-offs centered on the other characters. Pascal said, “Of course! You can imagine how much the kids love that character,”. Arad also expressed a lot of enthusiasm for the solo flick, saying, “Yeah. We want piggy”.

There are plenty of ways to go about these sequels as these characters have their own unique personalities and tone to each of their universes. Spider-Ham’s Looney Tunes-esque tone would no doubt be an entertaining fare to watch but what would be really cool is a Spider-Man Noir flick. However, as great as Into the Spider-Verse was, I sure hope that they won’t milk these side characters out for the sake of it. We’ll likely get the Peter Porker flick but let’s hope that Miles won’t be neglected in the process.
