Mary Poppins Returns: Emily Blunt Interested In Returning For Sequel

Let’s hope this one fares well first.

Mary Poppins Returns will be seeing its release on December 19, 2018 and it’s already raking in some pretty good reviews. A sequel to the classic Julie Andrews flick, the film sees Emily Blunt taking on the role of Poppins set only a couple of decades after the events of the original and would revolve around Michael and Jane Banks as grown ups. Along with some pretty good critical reception, the film is raking in some solid awards buzz as well with a number of nominations under its belt so far.

With this in mind, we can assume that the film would be doing pretty well at the box-office moving forward. The Rob Marshall (Chicago and Into the Woods) directed film will probably offer plenty of fun visuals, musical numbers and magic we’ve come to know from the original Mary Poppins. We can expect a solid sequel but if things really do well, maybe there’s a chance we may get more on the way. Whatever it is, we know that Emily Blunt herself would be on board.

Speaking with CBS News, Blunt discussed her role in Mary Poppins Returns revealing that she would like to return to play the character again if there would be a sequel. When asked if she would want to see a sequel, Blunt replied:

I would! I want to be her again. I like being her. She’s completely bizarre and unknowable. What I love about her is really what Travers said about her: ‘In order to fly, you need something solid to take off from.’ And I love that about her. Practical, yet magical”.

Word has been great on Blunt’s part in taking on the role of the iconic character that Julie Andrews herself embodied back in the day. Mary Poppins Returns could very well be a fun time for all ages and if all goes well, we may see more. Let’s just hope audiences like this upcoming flick first.
