Bumblebee Director Has Ideas For Potential Sequel

Let’s hope the film gets a sequel in the first place.

Bumblebee is undoubtedly the most critically acclaimed film in the Transformers series bringing the franchise back to its feet. The previous films were not very well received with its reception ranging from mixed to god awful but this one is getting plenty of love from critics. Director Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) did the impossible, okay not really impossible but he did something cool and we sure hope we’ll be able to see more of this from the franchise moving forward.

Bumblebee was only released recently so it’s still pretty hard to tell where the film is gonna land in regards to box-office numbers. It would suck if it doesn’t do well at the box-office considering how successful the previous films were despite being dogs–t. There’s still time though and if the film is able to rake in some decent amount of cash at the box-office, we can expect more from director Knight as he already has some ideas for where a sequel could go.

Bumblebee serves as a prequel to the Transformers films set in the 1980s so there’s a time gap there where things could happen. Speaking to Cinemablend, Knight was asked if there’s any material in that gap that could be explore in a sequel. Knight said:

“I think it certainly could be. I mean, when I get to the end of one of my movies, I always imagine what’s next for the characters. And so, in my mind, I’ve got all these scenarios and adventures that play out, both with Charlie and with Bee and everyone else. We’ll see if the world wants more. Maybe we’ll explore some of those things.”

Knight’s words are pretty vague but he seems confident with how a sequel could play out. He managed to make a good Transformers film so we can trust him. There is a lot that can be explored and hell, why not go further back? Okay, maybe that’s too much. It would be cool to see a sequel to Bumblebee however so we’ll just see what time has to say about its prospects.
