New Shazam! Image May Tease Possible Aquaman Reference

This movie is gonna be a ton of fun.

Now that Aquaman managed to deliver a solid DCEU flick, it’s time for Shazam! to provide a follow up to the James Wan directed film. Although Aquaman may not have been a cinematic masterpiece, it was definitely a fun fare and a step in the right direction for the franchise. With Shazam! to be released next year, we can expect the film to deliver something great with its light-hearted tone, humor and even the intriguing premise in itself.

It’s interesting to take note of how far the DCEU has come in regards to the franchise’s tone and approach. From the ostensibly dark and gritty approach to their earlier films to a more light-hearted almost MCU-esque approach to these later ones, it’s a wonder how far these film would go with this change. However, one thing’s for sure, these films are still connected and Shazam! itself would be teasing this including a possible connection with the recent Aquaman.

From the current issue of Empire (via DC Film United), we see a brand new promotional still from Shazam!. We see the titular character and his friend Freddy Freeman as they… talk to a fish? Well, it seems like Billy Batson AKA Shazam is trying to talk to a fish in the fishbowl perhaps attempting to emulate Arthur Curry’s abilities. Check it out below:

We know that Billy and Freddie would be trying out a wide range of powers to see which ones Shazam is capable of performing. It looks like Arthur Curry’s abilities are something the two are interested in trying too but let’s be honest, they probably wouldn’t succeed there. We’ll probably see him try out other stuff as well and it’ll definitely make for something pretty funny. This film is going to be something pretty awesome, I can tell.
