While most don’t fondly recall Ryan Reynolds’ turn as Hal Jordan in 2011’s Green Lantern, including the actor himself, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld would love to see him return to the DC Universe one day.
On Twitter, Liefeld shared that he would love to see Reynolds return as Green Lantern. What’s more, he feels it would get a great reaction from fans and critics.
I swear to you, I would love to see Ryan return as Green Lantern. I think it would receive positive reactions. The end credits to Deadpool 2 notwithstanding. Could be massive, just sayin.

The film was heavily criticized by fans and critics and under-performed at the box office, which resulted in Warner Bros canceling the planned sequel. The studio will reboot the character with the Green Lantern Corps, set for release in 2020.
Ryan Reynolds went on to find greater recognition and fame portraying Wade Wilson/Deadpool, whom Liefeld co-created with writer Fabian Nicieza, and the fourth wall-breaking Marvel character has made plenty of references to Green Lantern.
In Deadpool, he begged them not to make his upcoming super suit green or animated. In Deadpool 2, Deadpool commandeered Cable’s time travel technology to go back in the past and right any perceived wrongs to the timeline. Along with saving his girlfriend Vanessa and X-Force teammate Peter, he went back to 2011 and shot actor Ryan Reynolds in the head before he could star in the DC film, which Liefeld also references in his post.
Although Liefeld supports the alternative, it would appear Reynolds believes his time as Green Lantern is best left in the past. Fortunately, the upcoming reboot gives fans another opportunity to revisit the Green Lantern Corps under better circumstances.
