Detective Pikachu: Ryan Reynolds Shares Behind The Scenes Peek

Let’s hope this movie delivers.

Detective Pikachu looks to be pretty damn cool and it may very well prove to be a success. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Paul Kitson, Karan Soni and Omar Chaparro among others, the film would be the first American live-action Pokemon film. With the film set to be released in May 2019, the trailer indicated something pretty intriguing and with Reynolds as Pikachu, the film could at the very least be entertaining.

There is a lot of hope for this film to be good considering how big and passionate fans of Pokemon can be. There’s probably a decent amount of pressure on Reynolds’ part since he is voicing the iconic character of Pikachu but there’s not much he can do for now since Detective Pikachu has wrapped up production but based off the trailer, Reynolds may just deliver… or he’s pretty confident that he would at least judging from his little behind-the-scenes post.

Reynolds took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes sneak peek as to how the special effects department brought Reynold’s Pikachu to life. We see Pikachu on the left side of the image and Reynolds on the right with motion capture markers which are used to capture the actor’s facial expressions so Pikachu’s expressions would be much more authentic. Check it out below:

It’s not much but we can tell that Reynolds is pretty confident about the role and this film. He didn’t steer us wrong with Deadpool and he probably wouldn’t here too. Detective Pikachu looks good so far, so let’s hope it delivers when it’s out.
