RUMOR: Black Widow Movie Was Considered For R-Rating

Would the MCU go that route?.

Little is known about the upcoming Black Widow film set to be directed by Cate Shortland but we know it’s gonna happen. Actually, little is known about a lot of things when it comes to the future installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can expect the long overdue Natasha Romanoff led film to be released in 2020 but even that’s pretty uncertain. Not much is even known about what direction the film would be taking but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if the film would be a prequel or an origin story.

If that is the case however, we might be seeing just how the young assassin wound up working for S.H.I.E.L.D.. Not only that, Marvel Studios may just have to go the darker route to properly tell that story cause Natasha Romanoff has gone through some pretty dark s–t. It’s hard to say where Marvel would be taking the Black Widow film but it seems like a darker take was at some point being considered… or at least that’s what this new tweet suggests.

Charles Murphy of That Hashtag Show took to Twitter to reveal that Marvel Studios was at some point considering making Black Widow their first Rated-R film. Check out the tweet below:

Take into account that this isn’t coming directly from Marvel so take this as a rumor but damn, that would be interesting. Granted, Disney and Marvel Studios has always been relatively “family-friendly” despite some mild maturity but it’s Disney… so, best not hold your breath. Granted, the Disney-Fox deal would probably close soon and it’s unlikely that Disney would make Deadpool “family-friendly” so who knows, maybe we might see Black Widow go Rated-R.
