Shazam! Production Actually Destroyed A Real Ferris Wheel

Practical FTW.

A new trailer for Shazam! was recently dropped offering us a better look at what adult Billy Batson is capable of doing. The upcoming DCEU film looks to be something fun and following the success of Aquaman, this film may provide a good follow up that would really make the franchise something to be reckoned with. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and will star Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer and Djimon Hounsou among others.

We can definitely expect some great visual effects and CGI from the film but it looks like Shazam! is not all green screens and computers. Director Sandberg took to Instagram to reveal a new information about the film in regards to a particular shot we saw in the new trailer, revealing that the shot with the ferris wheel is not CGI but actually a real one they had to destroy. Check out the post below:

Damn, that’s what I’m talking about. Following the CGI heavy Aquaman which basically made a lot of the scenes look like it’s from Shark Tale, it’s great to see the next DCEU film taking a more practical approach to its effects. Some of the best comic books films utilized practical effects extensively such as The Dark Knight trilogy and… I can’t think of anymore, but that’s all we need to know when it comes to the magic of actually blowing s–t up. We know that Sandberg has the balls to go all out so let’s hope Shazam! is a worthwhile film.
