Watch The Trailer Of The New Mark Wahlberg Rated-R Action Film, Mile 22

With Peter Berg directing, this will be a treat.

Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg are back with a new action thriller film on the horizon. No, it’s a sequel to the critically acclaimed Deepwater Horizon but an entirely new one titled Mile 22. The trailer for the latest collaboration between Berg and Wahlberg dropped and it’s looking to deliver some good old-fashioned Rated-R action Berg has been known to deliver.

The film also stars the likes of Lauren Cohen from The Walking Dead, Iko Uwais from The Raid, John Malkovich from Con Air and WWE wrestler Ronda Rousey. With these names attached and from the looks of the trailer, we’re gonna see some visceral action sequences. Wahlberg and Cohen would likely deliver some high octane shoot-outs but with Rousey and Uwais on board, we can expect some great fight sequences as well.

The plot seems to be revolving around an elite team of agents tasked to undergo operations that military action or diplomacy would not be able to solve. The team of which is called: Overwatch and no, Mile 22 is not a video-game adaptation. The plot revolves around Uwais’ character as the team (lead by Wahlberg’s character) is tasked with getting him to safety as rogue agents are out to take him out.

The premise no doubts seems familiar but with some big names attached to it, it’s impossible to ignore. Berg has been responsible for a series of successes in recent years. Lone Survivor in 2013 managed to deliver a great and visceral action film set in the backdrop of 2005 Afghanistan and Patriots Day, released in 2016 provided some great suspense and emotional heft surrounding the Boston bombing.

These, alongside the aforementioned disaster film, Deepwater Horizon was led by Wahlberg, solidifying their place as an effective director-actor combo alongside the likes of Martin Scorcese and Leonardo Dicaprio or Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. If these two names aren’t good enough to get seats on the table, maybe the prospect of Rated-R action film resurgence would.
