New Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer: Rami Malek Looks Awesome

Good cast, hopefully it’s also a good film.

A new trailer for the upcoming Bohemian Rhapsody film just dropped and it looks awesome. The film chronicles the iconic British rock band Queen, focusing on the life of its late frontman Freddie Mercury leading up to Queen’s Live Aid performance in 1985. The film stars Rami Malek as Mercury, Gwilym Lee as lead guiatrist Brian May, Ben Hardy as drummer Roger Taylor, Joseph Mazello as bassist John Deacon and Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin, Mercury’s lifelong companion.

Aside from providing us with some classic tunes such as “Another One Bites The Dust”, ” We Are The Champions” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the trailer provides us with a little more interaction among the band members. Along with its beautiful 70s and 80s fashion, it gives us a little more as to the process behind the composition of the iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody” which is quite possibly one of the greatest songs ever. The film will likely tackle this a little more as drummer Taylor seemed to have had some problems with the recording so it’ll be great to see how this all turns out on screen.

The trailer also offers a little more of the charisma surrounding Mercury with Malek known for his work in the acclaimed Mr.Robot, showing us much of his acting chops. It’s safe to say that this is looking to be a real Oscar contender and Malek might have a nomination under his belt soon. The film definitely looks like it’s going to deliver something for both Queen fans and audiences.

Being a huge Queen fan myself, I’m excited but still a little cautious. The director switch from Bryan Singer known for his work in X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Usual Suspects to Dexter Fletcher (Sunshine of Leith) is something to be worried about. Granted, Fletcher has more experience in musically driven films so this may provide the film with the best of both styles. We can tell that the performances are going to be stellar, hopefully the film delivers overall.

Bohemian Rhapsody is set to be released in November 2, 2018
