Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Final Trailer Has A Surprising Character Reveal

This is looking to be far more interesting that the last one.

It’s safe to say there’s plenty of hype for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald especially after seeing the trailers that were released previously. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was pretty underwhelming and although, it was nice to return to the Wizarding World, it still didn’t offer the magic the Harry Potter films did. However, from what we saw before, it looks like its sequel might deliver that. The Crimes of Grindelwald final trailer has just been dropped and not only does it offer us more Hogwarts, but it also looks like it’s looking to expand what we know about the Wizarding World with a familiar character added to the mix.

At first, the trailer seems pretty normal with Dumbledore (Jude Law) having a word with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), providing him with an address to a safe house in Paris. We have the usual stuff, Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, some foreboding music and dialogue over the visuals but what really stood out was the inclusion of a character that we all now from the previous Harry Potter films- Nagini.

Yes, Nagini, Voldemort’s snake is in the trailer but in human form. Credence (Ezra Miller) utters the familiar name before we see a circus performer in a cage transforming into a snake. Played by Claudia Kim, the actress spoke to EW confirming her role in the film as she discussed a little more on the character. Nagini will be introduced as a performer for the Circus Arcanus, where she’ll show off her transformations for Muggle audiences who thinks of it as just a show. Kim reveals:

“It will be so interesting to see another side of Nagini, you’ve only seen her as a Horcrux. In this, she’s a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live. She wants to stay a human being and I think that’s a wonderful contrast to the character.”

Kim also revealed that when the film takes place in 1927, Nagini is able to transform to snake form at will but due to her mysterious blood curse, she knows she would eventually become a snake permanently. She said:

“She does feel sometimes it’s not controllable, She is bound to [permanently] transform at some point to a beast so she feels this pressure that the clock is ticking.”

Well Neville, how does it feel knowing you viciously beheaded a woman? Kim looks to be a great addition to the film along with the character she’ll be playing. It also seems like she’s friends with Credence so it would be interesting to see what unfolds with this character.
