If you weren’t already excited about Incredibles 2 AKA Fantastic Four done right AKA one of the best superhero movies of all time, you will be after watching this ass-kicking trailer.
The best superhero movies have always been more than just about people in capes saving the world from destruction. What makes The Incredibles an incredible (cheap pun intended) movie is that at its core, it is a story about a family. And it looks like Incredibles 2 will continue exploring familial themes.
The sequel picks up right after the 2004 original. We see the family trying their best to juggle between their regular domestic life — we see Violet nagging Dash, much to his annoyance — and their superpowers. Elastigirl is front and center in this trailer, as she’s recruited by an agency to fight crime and in an effort to bring supers back into the sunlight. While she’s out kicking butt, Mr. Incredible is left to handle his mischievous kids back at home. This leads to some incredibly funny moments which most people would relate to. Oh God, what will we do without our moms?
Disney, regardless if it’s Pixar, Lucasfilm or Marvel, always does a great job with its trailers and this is no different. This is a full-length trailer that gets us pumped for the sequel, without spoiling any of the important plot details. The marketing team at Disney is smart to focus on the dynamic of the Parr family and only teases us with a new villain right at the end of the trailer.
Incredibles 2 will hit Malaysian cinemas on the 14th of June.
