Chris Pratt On James Gunn’s Firing From Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

He feels the same way.

James Gunn being fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 seems like it may be causing a some form of uncertainty behind the scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The only reason I say this is because things seemed all fine and dandy before Gunn was fired by Disney after a bunch of old offensive tweets of his surfaced a while back. The cast of the Guardians films (which Gunn directed in case you didn’t know) have expressed their support for the Gunn especially Dave Bautista who has been very vocal about it even considering leaving if Gunn isn’t somewhat involved. However, the leading man of the Guardians hasn’t said much about the situation.

Aside from a Bible quote he posted on Twitter, Chris Pratt hasn’t really said much about the whole Gunn fiasco. Alongside his fellow Guardians cast, Pratt did sign a statement released from the cast pertaining to Gunn’s firing which does express support for the director but compared to the rest of them, he seemed to have been relatively silent. It seems that he’s finally opening up a little more about it now however.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Pratt discussed Gunn’s firing, expressing that it hasn’t been a great time for him due to it. He said:

“It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be,”

That goes without saying but he also revealed that he still stands by the statement made by the cast. He said:

“I love going to Comic-Con but I ended up not doing a lot of interviews around that time just because it was so shocking. All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel,”

Unlike Bautista, Pratt is still reserved about saying much but it’s pretty clear where he stands. Maybe he just doesn’t wanna get in trouble but at the end of the day it seems like Pratt just wants Gunn back just like many of us do.
