Birds Of Prey Will Be Rated-R According To Director

Things are going to be a little different for the DCEU.

The future of the DCEU looks bright with plenty of films in the line-up expected to deliver something fresh to the table including the upcoming Birds of Prey film. Things have been moving forward nicely for the film with Margot Robbie returning to reprise her role as Harley Quinn and Cathy Yan taking on directorial duties for the film.

More of the cast was rounded up with Mary Elizabeth Winstead taking on the role of Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell to play Black Canary. The film also has Rosie Perez attached to take on the role of Gotham Detective Renee Montoya. This all-female led squad will see some pretty interesting territory explored here and not just its premise as the film will be Rated-f–king-R! Yeah, it looks like we’re finally getting something to really allow this film to go all out in delivering us something special.

According to Deadline, director Yan appeared at the U.S.-China Entertainment Summit at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles and revealed more about the project. Yan confirmed during the Summit that Birds of Prey will indeed by Rated-R which is no doubt bloody great news for fans who have been clamoring for a Rated-R DCEU flick. Word of the film being Rated-R was somewhat circulating for a while but the same thing happened with Venom which in turn saw a PG-13 release. However, it looks like this DCEU flick is giving us that R.

Now, having a PG-13 Birds of Prey doesn’t mean that the film will be bad and having a Rated-R film wouldn’t mean that it couldn’t suck. However, one thing it does reveal is that Warner Bros. is more than willing to give us something to remember and that getting as many butts into seats isn’t their only priority even if it is a priority. Things look good for this flick, let’s hope it all comes together in the end.
