Anchorman Director Discussed Directing Silver Surfer Movie With Marvel

Make it happen guys.

A Silver Surfer film would be a pretty cool thing to see on the big screen and we got that before but sadly it was in a not-so-good film. Yep, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer saw the metallic humanoid with a surfboard grace our screens in what could be considered a highly underwhelming incarnation of the character. However, there is still hope with the likes of Anchorman and Vice director Adam McKay.

The Oscar winning filmmaker is no stranger to comic book films having co-written Ant-Man but he has expressed interest in directing a film in that genre himself. McKay previously expressed interest in directing a Silver Surfer film and although it wasn’t actually indicative of any upcoming projects, it does seem like a prospect as McKay has discussed it with Marvel Studios.

McKay spoke to MTV and was asked if there has been any movements following his expressed interest on making a film around Norrin Radd AKA the Silver Surfer. The director revealed that he has since had conversations with Marvel surrounding the possibility. He said:

“There actually has been some discussion about Silver Surfer. My agent certainly woke up. They were excited. We’re in the middle of, you know, backing Vice right now, but, who knows, maybe in a couple months it could pop up. I really am excited about that idea. So, we’ll see what happens.”

That doesn’t mean it’s happening just yet as they’ve only been talking about it but god, that would be so cool. McKay would definitely bring something interesting to a Silver Surfer film as he is a really good filmmaker. The Big Short is a damn good film and his latest installment Vice is getting some awards attention despite earning some polarizing reception. Maybe this prospect would turn into something in the future.
