DC’s Birds Of Prey Casts Ewan McGregor As Villain Black Mask

This movie is coming together quite nicely so far.

The DCEU’s upcoming Birds of Prey looks like it’s getting everything planned accordingly and nicely to deliver something special on the big screen. With a cast featuring the likes of Margot Robbie who will reprise her role as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Cannary and Rosie Perez as Gotham cop Renee Montoya, the film still has more to offer in regards to more interesting names attached to it.

Recently, Birds of Prey director Cathy Yan revealed that the film will be be Rated-R which is of course, is pretty damn cool. With this, we know that the film would be able to deliver something intense, gritty and that the main villain would not be filtered all too much. Speaking of villain, for some time it’s been speculated that it would most likely be Black Mask and apparently that’s true and now we have Ewan McGregor on board to take on the role.

The Wrap reports that McGregor known for his roles in the Star Wars prequels and Trainspotting is in final talks to play Gotham mob boss Black Mask based on word from individuals with knowledge of the project exclusively. It’s been expected for some time that McGregor would take on the role… well, either him or Sharlto Copley from District 9 but it looks like Obi-Wan is getting this gig and will be a part of Birds of Prey.

Black Mask itself is a pretty menacing villain, having murdered his wealthy, status obsessed family to take control of the family corporation. His face is hidden behind an ebony face mask but you probably kinda figured that one out (If you’re unfamiliar to the character that is). It’s uncertain how they would approach this but it’s clear the all-female squad’s going to have their hands full and we’re likely gonna have our eyes fixed to the screen.
